SmartRecruiters jobs: how to find and apply to roles on SmartRecruiters
SmartRecruiters jobs are roles that companies post through SmartRecruiters, an applicant tracking system, at careers.smartrecruiters.com/<Company> or on their own careers site. Each posting lives at jobs.smartrecruiters.com/<Company>/<id>. You can search them on SmartRecruiters Job Search or with Google site: searches, then apply on a short two-step form with no account. Tolta reads SmartRecruiters boards and can submit that form for you.

SmartRecruiters runs hiring for large employers in many countries and its postings are easy to miss if you only search the big job sites. This page covers how to recognize a SmartRecruiters board, search across them, and get through SmartRecruiters’ application form. If you would rather have new SmartRecruiters roles found and applied to for you, that is what Tolta’s auto-apply does, on top of an AI job finder that reads these boards directly.
What is SmartRecruiters?
SmartRecruiters is an applicant tracking system (ATS) that employers use to publish jobs, collect applications and run their hiring pipeline. It is now an SAP company. For job seekers, SmartRecruiters matters because it hosts each customer’s job postings and the form you apply through, and it runs its own cross-company search, SmartRecruiters Job Search.
When you apply on a SmartRecruiters form, your application goes straight into the employer’s SmartRecruiters account, with your answers to their screening questions attached. Nobody has to forward it from a job-board inbox, which is the main reason to apply on the employer’s own posting rather than through a reposted listing.
How do you recognize a SmartRecruiters job board?
A SmartRecruiters board is a page at careers.smartrecruiters.com followed by the company’s identifier, such as careers.smartrecruiters.com/ServiceNow. Each posting sits on jobs.smartrecruiters.com, with the company identifier, a numeric ID and the job title in the address. The apply button reads “I’m interested”, and pages carry a “powered by SmartRecruiters” mark.
The patterns, using ServiceNow’s board:
- Board (all open roles):
careers.smartrecruiters.com/<Company> - One posting:
jobs.smartrecruiters.com/<Company>/<id>-<job-title> - Application form:
jobs.smartrecruiters.com/oneclick-ui/company/<Company>/publication/<id> - Cross-company search:
jobs.smartrecruiters.com
The company identifier is set by the employer and is often written as one word, such as ServiceNow or BoschGroup. A posting page has the company description, job description, qualifications and additional information (which on some US postings includes the salary range), then the I’m interested button, a Refer a friend link and a few other jobs at the same company.
Many large employers run their own careers site on top of SmartRecruiters. SmartRecruiters’ Posting API exists so customers can build fully branded career sites from their SmartRecruiters postings, and some companies send their careers.smartrecruiters.com address straight to that site. The giveaway is the apply step: when the Apply button takes you to a jobs.smartrecruiters.com address, the job runs on SmartRecruiters.
How do you search for jobs on SmartRecruiters?
SmartRecruiters runs its own cross-company search, SmartRecruiters Job Search at jobs.smartrecruiters.com, which lists open roles from companies that use SmartRecruiters, newest first. Start there for what was just posted, then use Google with the site: operator on jobs.smartrecruiters.com to search by exact title, skill or city. Each result is a live posting from an employer.
SmartRecruiters Job Search takes a job title, location or keyword, and has a company filter and a Job Location Type filter. Its keyword matching is broad: a search for “product manager” also returns roles such as assistant manager. It shows the latest matches, so it suits checking what went live today.
Google patterns to adapt:
- By title:
site:jobs.smartrecruiters.com "product manager" - Title plus remote:
site:jobs.smartrecruiters.com "backend engineer" remote - Title plus city:
site:jobs.smartrecruiters.com "account executive" "London" - One company:
site:jobs.smartrecruiters.com/ServiceNow "engineer" - Exclude a word:
site:jobs.smartrecruiters.com "designer" -intern - Company boards:
site:careers.smartrecruiters.com "software"to find employers that use SmartRecruiters
Use Google’s Tools menu to limit results to the past week or month. Google’s index lags behind the boards, so open the posting before you start the form to check it is still live.
What does the SmartRecruiters application form ask?
SmartRecruiters’ form has two steps and no account or sign-in. The first asks for your contact details, optional work and education history, profile links, your resume and a message to the hiring team. The second, after you press Next, holds the employer’s screening questions, any voluntary diversity questions and the company’s privacy notice.
On a typical SmartRecruiters form, such as ServiceNow’s, you will see, in order:
- Easy Apply. Upload your resume to autocomplete the form, or use Apply With LinkedIn or Apply With Indeed. The forms we checked accept files up to 10MB. Check every field it fills before you go on.
- Personal information: first name, last name, email, a second field to confirm your email, city and phone number. On ServiceNow’s form all six are required.
- Experience and Education: entries you add one at a time, usually filled by autocomplete.
- Your Profiles: LinkedIn, Facebook, X and a website, usually optional.
- Resume and a Message to the Hiring Team, a free-text box that works as a short cover letter.
- Screening questions, after Next: the employer’s own, as text answers, dropdowns, multiple choice or checkboxes, each set to required or optional. Some appear only after a particular answer, such as a follow-up on a driving licence. Common ones cover work authorization, notice period, salary expectations and languages.
- Confidential Diversity Questionnaire: always last, voluntary, and stated not to be used for employment purposes. On US jobs these are the usual EEO self-identification questions.
- Privacy notice: a statement that you have read and agree to the employer’s privacy notice, often with a checkbox.
After you apply, SmartRecruiters emails you a confirmation. From that email you can register an optional Candidate Portal to track your applications across companies that use SmartRecruiters. SmartRecruiters’ privacy notice says you can withdraw and delete your profile at each company you applied to.
What are the best tips for applying to SmartRecruiters jobs?
Apply early on the employer’s own SmartRecruiters form, upload your resume to autocomplete it, then correct every field it fills. Use the message to the hiring team as a short, specific cover letter. Answer the screening questions carefully, because they are where SmartRecruiters employers filter applications, and some of them only appear after you answer another one.
- Apply early. Postings close when a role is filled, so this week’s postings are usually a better use of your time than ones from two months ago.
- Check the autocomplete. Resume, LinkedIn and Indeed imports save typing but can split job titles, dates or cities wrongly. Fix them before Next, since the employer sees the profile, not just the file.
- Write the message. The Message to the Hiring Team box is often optional, but a few lines on why this role and what you would bring read better than an empty field.
- Treat eligibility questions carefully. Work authorization, location and salary questions are often used to screen applications, so answer them accurately for that specific role and country.
- Keep track yourself. The Candidate Portal only covers SmartRecruiters employers. Track every application in one place, yourself or with an application tracker.
Where does Tolta help with SmartRecruiters jobs?
Tolta does the whole job on SmartRecruiters: it reads SmartRecruiters boards continuously, so new roles reach you within hours of posting, matches them to your profile, tailors your CV and cover letter to each role, and submits on the employer’s own SmartRecruiters form. No SmartRecruiters account is needed, and your application lands in the employer’s pipeline exactly as if you had typed it.
With auto-apply, Tolta fills and submits matching SmartRecruiters applications for you, and nothing goes out until you approve it, in one click. Tolta never guesses: when a form asks something your profile can’t answer truthfully, such as a notice period or a role-specific screening question, it holds that application and asks you once, then reuses your answer on the next form that asks. Diversity answers stay voluntary and are never used for matching. Tolta applies only on employers’ own forms and never automates LinkedIn.
Tolta reads Greenhouse, Lever, Ashby, Workable, Rippling and Teamtailor boards the same way, so one profile covers far more company boards than you could check by hand. See also the Workable board guide and the full list of job boards.

Frequently asked questions
Do I need a SmartRecruiters account to apply to a job?
No. The I'm interested button on a SmartRecruiters posting opens the application form directly, with no sign-in. You fill in your details, attach a resume, answer the employer's questions and submit. SmartRecruiters' candidate terms describe an optional Candidate Portal, which you can register for from the email you receive after applying, to track your applications across companies.
Is there a website that lists all SmartRecruiters jobs?
Yes. SmartRecruiters Job Search, at jobs.smartrecruiters.com, searches open roles from companies that use SmartRecruiters by job title, location or keyword, with a company filter and a location type filter. It shows the latest matches first, so a Google site: search such as site:jobs.smartrecruiters.com "data analyst" remote is a useful second check, and a tool that reads SmartRecruiters boards directly, as Tolta does, catches new roles soon after they go live.
What does "I'm interested" mean on a SmartRecruiters job?
It is SmartRecruiters' apply button. Clicking it does not send anything to the employer; it opens the application form for that posting, headed Easy Apply. Your application only reaches the employer once you complete the form and submit it.
Can I apply with LinkedIn or Indeed on SmartRecruiters?
On many forms, yes. The top of the form offers Apply With LinkedIn and Apply With Indeed buttons, next to a box where you can upload your resume instead. Each option pre-fills your profile. Check every field it fills, and answer the employer's own questions yourself, since those are never imported.
Do I have to answer the diversity questions on a SmartRecruiters application?
No. SmartRecruiters' developer documentation requires diversity questions to appear after all other questions, under a Confidential Diversity Questionnaire heading that says the answers are voluntary and will not be considered for employment purposes. On US jobs they typically cover gender, race and ethnicity, and you can decline to answer.
Does Tolta auto-apply to SmartRecruiters jobs?
Yes. Tolta reads SmartRecruiters boards continuously, matches new roles to your profile, and fills and submits the employer's own SmartRecruiters form for you, with a CV and cover letter tailored to the role; you approve it with one click. No SmartRecruiters account is needed. When a form asks something your profile can't answer truthfully, Tolta holds that application and asks you once, then reuses your answer.
