Simplify Jobs review: is Simplify Jobs legit?
Yes, Simplify Jobs is legit. Simplify Jobs Inc., a Y Combinator company in San Francisco, runs it. Its free Copilot extension autofills applications on over 100 job boards and portals while you review and submit, and holds 4.8 on the Chrome Web Store from 3.9K ratings. The paid Simplify+ adds AI writing and Autopilot, which submits up to 20 applications a week with no review step. Payments are non-refundable once a subscription is active.
Our verdict
Simplify is legit, but its free Copilot only fills forms: you still review and submit every one. Simplify+ is non-refundable once active, and its Autopilot submits with no review step. Tolta tailors every application, holds and asks when it can't answer truthfully, sends nothing without your one-click approval, and refunds a first payment within 7 days if 10 or fewer applications were sent.
Good fit for: Job seekers who want free autofill across many application systems, including Workday, and are willing to review and submit each form themselves.
What it does well
- Copilot autofill, job tracker, job matches and a basic resume builder are free, with no application limit
- Chrome Web Store 4.8 from 3.9K ratings and 600,000 users (October 22, 2026)
- Autofills on over 100 job boards and application portals, including Workday, Greenhouse, iCIMS and Lever
- Autopilot fails an application rather than guess, and uses a credit only when one goes through
Where it falls short
- Simplify+ payments are non-refundable once the subscription is active
- Autopilot submits with no review step, and only up to 20 applications a week
- When Autopilot isn't sure of an answer, you finish the application yourself; asking you first is planned, not live
- Saved answers are reused only when a question's wording matches exactly
- Trustpilot 2.8 from 21 reviews on an unclaimed profile, with complaints about refunds and charges after cancelling
| Criterion | Tolta | Simplify |
|---|---|---|
| Where jobs come from | Directly from named company career boards: Greenhouse, Lever, Ashby, Rippling, Workable and Teamtailor, checked continuously | Job matches and a job board; Copilot works on postings you open on over 100 job boards and portals, including Workday[1] |
| How you apply | On the employer's own form. Submits for you on Ashby, Workable, Rippling and Teamtailor; elsewhere it finds the role and sends you to the employer's form. Nothing goes out until you approve it, in one click | Copilot fills the form and you submit. Autopilot (Simplify+) submits for you: 'There's no review step in between'[4] |
| Questions it can't answer | Holds the application before sending, asks you once and reuses the answer. Never auto-fills past salary, criminal history or a photo on US forms | Copilot leaves them to you and reuses answers to identically worded questions. Autopilot fails the application and you finish it yourself; asking you is planned[5] |
| CV and cover letter | Both tailored for every job | AI-tailored resumes and cover letters on Simplify+; the free plan scores your resume against the job[2] |
| Employer replies | A permanent personal application address; replies land in your Tolta inbox | Free job tracker; Autopilot applications use a proxy contact address that forwards to your account email[4] |
| Price and refunds | $19.99/week (50 applications), $39.99/month (200) or $79.99/quarter (600); full refund within 7 days if 10 or fewer were sent | Copilot free; Simplify+ $19.99/week, $39.99/month or $89.99/3 months, Autopilot capped at 20 a week; non-refundable once active[2] |

Simplify is the free option in our comparison of the best AI job application tools. If you’re weighing tools that auto-apply to jobs for you, Simplify is two products in one: a free extension that fills forms while you submit, and a paid agent that submits for you. For close comparisons, see our Jobright review and our JobCopilot review.
Is Simplify Jobs legit?
Yes, Simplify Jobs is legit. It’s run by Simplify Jobs Inc. in San Francisco, a Y Combinator company founded in 2020, and on October 22, 2026 its free Copilot extension had 600,000 users and 4.8 from 3.9K ratings on the Chrome Web Store. The complaints are about the paid plan: no refunds once active, and charges after cancelling.
Simplify’s terms of service, last updated August 19, 2026, name the operator as “Simplify Jobs Inc., doing business as Simplify”, under California law. Y Combinator lists it in its Winter 2021 batch, founded by Michael Yan, Ethan Horoschak and Rushil Srivastava.
The ratings split by product. The free extension is rated highly on the Chrome Web Store, where Google marks it as Featured. Trustpilot shows 2.8 from 21 reviews, 52% of them 1-star, on a profile Simplify hasn’t claimed, and Trustpilot notes the company hasn’t invited reviews, so those may not be representative. Most of the Trustpilot complaints are about paying for Simplify+.
How does Simplify apply for you?
Simplify applies in two ways. The free Copilot extension fills an application while you watch, and you review and submit it. Autopilot, part of the paid Simplify+, opens the employer’s application, fills it, tailors your resume if you choose and submits it, with no review step. If Autopilot isn’t confident in an answer, it fails the application instead of guessing.
Copilot (free). From Simplify’s Copilot page, it autofills “on over 100 job boards and application portals including Workday, Greenhouse, iCIMS, Taleo, Avature, Lever, and SmartRecruiters”. Per its autofill guide, you open a supported application, click Autofill, then “review the completed application, make any edits you want, and submit the application yourself”. Standard fields such as contact details, work history, work authorization and demographic questions fill most reliably. Role-specific questions are yours to answer; Copilot saves your answer and reuses it when the exact same wording appears again. On Simplify+, it can draft those answers with AI.
Autopilot (Simplify+). From Simplify’s help center, you pick a job, choose Autopilot from the dropdown next to Apply, choose a tailored or default resume, and confirm. Then: “Choosing Autopilot means submitting. There’s no review step in between.” It only applies to jobs you pick, only on the application systems it supports (it doesn’t list them), and it uses a proxy contact address on a partner domain to receive verification codes, forwarding other mail to your account email.
What happens with questions it can’t answer is documented, and it’s a good rule. From Credits and failed applications: “If it isn’t confident that what it’s about to submit is right, it stops and marks the application as failed rather than sending something wrong.” No credit is used, and you finish the application yourself with Copilot. Simplify says it’s working on having Autopilot pause and ask you instead, then reuse your answer; that isn’t live yet.
How much does Simplify cost?
Simplify’s core tools are free: Copilot autofill, the job tracker, job matches and a basic resume builder, with no limit on applications. Simplify+ costs $19.99 for a week, $39.99 for a month or $89.99 for three months, as of October 2026. Every plan has the same features, including 20 Autopilot credits a week, and renews automatically until cancelled.
| Plan | Price | Per day | Autopilot |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | $0 | Not included |
| Simplify+ 1 week | $19.99 | $2.85 | 20 credits a week |
| Simplify+ 1 month | $39.99 | $1.33 | 20 credits a week |
| Simplify+ 3 months | $89.99 | $0.99 | 20 credits a week |
Source: What’s included in Simplify+, as of October 2026. A credit is used only when an application actually goes through, unused credits don’t roll over, and you can’t buy extra credits yet.
The refund terms are strict. From the refund policy, last updated August 26, 2026:
- “Once your subscription has been activated and you have gained access to Simplify services, all payments are non-refundable.”
- “Refunds are not provided based on minimal usage or frequency of use.”
- “If you are charged for a subscription renewal unintentionally, we may provide a pro-rated refund if you contact us within 24 hours of the renewal charge.” Processing fees are deducted.
- “Dissatisfaction with AI-generated content is not grounds for a refund.”
- App Store purchases are refunded by Apple, not Simplify.
Put together: try the free Copilot first, and pick the 1-week plan if you want to test Simplify+, because you won’t get the money back once it’s active.
What do Simplify users say?
Users broadly like the free extension and are more critical of the paid plan. Praise centers on time saved filling forms and on the tracker. Complaints center on refunds refused under the no-refund policy, charges after cancelling, blank or wrong autofill fields, and AI tailoring that needs heavy editing.
Paraphrased from Trustpilot and Reddit:
- Semi-automated, by design. In a month-long test of eight tools, one user found Simplify “completely free” and about 20–50% automated, depending on the form. It left some fields blank and saved their answers for next time. From about 50 applications, they reported one interview and no offers.
- Refunds. In an r/csMajors thread where most replies call Simplify legit and a time saver, one Simplify+ subscriber said they cancelled after a day because the tailoring wasn’t good enough and were refused a refund.
- Spam flags. In an August 2026 r/recruitinghell thread, a user said an Ashby application was flagged as spam with Copilot enabled and went through after they turned it off. Another said Simplify enters itself as the “where did you hear about us” source.
These are individual reports, not a representative sample.
Who is Simplify a good fit for?
Simplify suits job seekers who want free autofill across many application systems, including Workday, and are willing to review and submit each form themselves. Simplify+ suits people who want an agent to submit a few hand-picked jobs a week and can live without refunds. It’s a weak fit if you want applications sent for you but checked first.
Signs Simplify+ isn’t for you:
- You’d want to approve each application before an agent submits it.
- You’d want your money back if the first week doesn’t work out.
- You need more than 20 auto-submitted applications a week.
How is Tolta different?
Simplify’s free Copilot helps you fill forms yourself; Tolta finds roles, tailors your CV and cover letter for each one, fills the employer’s own form where auto-apply is live and waits for your one-click approval. Tolta checks named company career boards (Greenhouse, Lever, Ashby, Rippling, Workable and Teamtailor) continuously, so new roles reach you within hours, and asks you once when a question needs a real answer.
The differences that matter against Simplify:
- Asks instead of failing. Simplify’s Autopilot and Tolta share a rule: don’t guess. When Tolta can’t answer a question truthfully, it holds the application and asks you, then reuses your answer; Simplify fails the application and leaves you to finish it. Tolta never auto-fills past salary, criminal history or a photo on US forms, and work authorization is re-confirmed on a schedule. Details are on our safety page.
- Tolta fills the form; you say go. Nothing goes out until you approve it, in one click. Autopilot has no review step.
- Tailoring on every plan. Your CV and cover letter are written for each role.
- One address, one inbox. Each user gets a permanent personal application address, and employer replies land in a Tolta inbox.
- Refunds. A full refund of your first payment within 7 days if 10 or fewer applications were sent, and failed applications never count.
Simplify’s free Copilot saves typing; Tolta does the applying. Tolta submits for you on Ashby, Workable, Rippling and Teamtailor today; on Greenhouse and Lever it finds the role and sends you to the employer’s form. See how Tolta’s auto-apply works, and what it will and won’t send in your name.
Frequently asked questions
Is Simplify Jobs legit or a scam?
Simplify Jobs is legit. It's run by Simplify Jobs Inc. in San Francisco, a Y Combinator company founded in 2020, and its free Copilot extension had 600,000 users and a 4.8 rating from 3.9K ratings on the Chrome Web Store on October 22, 2026. We wouldn't call it a scam. The complaints are about the paid Simplify+ plan: refunds refused under its no-refund policy and charges after cancelling.
Is Simplify free?
The core is. Simplify says its Copilot autofill, application tracker, job matches and basic resume builder are 'features we commit to keeping free for everyone', with no limit on how many applications you autofill. AI-written resumes, cover letters and answers to open-ended questions, networking tools and Autopilot need the paid Simplify+ plan.
How much does Simplify+ cost?
As of October 2026, Simplify+ costs $19.99 for 1 week, $39.99 for 1 month or $89.99 for 3 months. Every plan has the same features, including 20 Autopilot credits a week, and subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled. Simplify doesn't sell extra Autopilot credits yet; it says a plan with a larger weekly allowance is coming.
Can I get a refund from Simplify?
Generally no. Simplify's refund policy (updated August 26, 2026) says: 'Once your subscription has been activated and you have gained access to Simplify services, all payments are non-refundable.' Low usage isn't grounds for a refund, and neither is dissatisfaction with AI content. An unintended renewal may get a pro-rated refund if you contact Simplify within 24 hours, minus processing fees.
Does Simplify apply to jobs for me?
Only with Autopilot, on Simplify+. You pick a job on Simplify and Autopilot opens the employer's application, fills it from your profile, can tailor your resume and writes a cover letter if needed, then submits. Simplify says 'Choosing Autopilot means submitting. There's no review step in between.' It's capped at 20 a week and works only on the application systems it supports.
Does Simplify work outside the US?
Partly. Simplify's job matches and job board cover the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, France, Germany, India, Ireland, Italy and Spain. Copilot, the resume builder, cover letters and the job tracker work wherever you apply, even outside those regions, according to Simplify's help center.
Can employers tell I used Simplify?
Possibly. In August 2026, a Reddit user reported that an application on an Ashby form was flagged as spam with Copilot enabled, and went through after they turned it off. Other users say it fills in Simplify as the answer to 'how did you hear about us'. These are individual reports. Simplify's terms say you're responsible for reviewing AI-generated answers before you use them.
What's a good Simplify alternative?
If you want applications sent for you, Tolta finds new roles on named company career boards, tailors your CV and cover letter for each one, applies on the employer's own form and holds any question it can't answer truthfully until you answer it once. Plans start at $19.99 a week, with a full refund within 7 days if 10 or fewer applications were sent. If you only want free autofill, Simplify's Copilot is hard to beat.
